Preparing for Your Appointment
The Neurology Clinic – Memory at UT Southwestern Medical Center evaluates patients who have concerns about their memory or thinking that may be due to a neurodegenerative disease. This includes patients over the age of 50. You may have decided that you want to talk to a specialist about memory loss or other cognitive changes, or your family may have urged you to come.
Our clinic’s staff includes neurologists who specialize in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry, an Advanced Practice Professional (APPs), a neuropsychologist, and a psychometrist. We ask that a loved one or close friend who knows you well accompanies you to the appointment – this helps us in providing the best care for you.
Here are some suggestions to help you prepare for your appointment and understand what to expect.
Please bring records from your previous neurological and neuropsychological evaluation(s) including:
- Lab work
- MRI brain, CT head, and/or PET brain reports and images
- Results from lumbar punctures
- Neuropsychology test results
- Any other results that would be pertinent
Know your medications and bring a detailed list or the actual bottles along with you.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes early.
