Biography

Nilofar Syed, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in rheumatoid arthritis, crystalline arthropathies, and vasculitis.

Born in Baroda, India, Dr. Syed holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed an internal medicine residency at Brown University, followed by advanced training through a fellowship in rheumatic and immunologic diseases at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in rheumatology, Dr. Syed joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Syed is the Director of Rheumatology E-Consults at Parkland Memorial Hospital. She is a member of the MSK Ultrasound Fellowship Training Committee. Her interests include clinical medicine, teaching, and research.

Dr. Syed is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. She is also a member of the American College of Physicians, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association.
