Losing a tremendous amount of weight is a life-changing achievement. Some patients require body-contouring procedures to address excessive skin, remaining fatty tissue, and lack of tissue elasticity after weight loss. Our board-certified plastic surgeons are experts in issues that may result after patients lose weight as a result of bariatric surgery such as gastric bypass, lap band, gastric sleeve, and other types of procedures, as well as diet and exercise.
As an academic medical institution, we are at the forefront of the latest findings and surgical techniques involved with post-weight loss issues. In fact, our board-certified plastic surgeons have pioneered techniques and safety measures to reshape the body and remove excessive amounts of tissue and skin after massive weight loss.
Body contouring after a large weight loss may involve a number of procedures – from correcting abdominal sagging to addressing excess skin on the thighs. We determine which procedures are safe and effective for each patient.Jeffrey M. Kenkel, M.D.

Our first step in working with a patient is discussing expectations. We then tailor procedures based on your objectives and overall health. This may include options to target one or more problem areas on the body – including the face, neck, arms, abdomen, buttocks, abdomen, and thighs.
Plastic surgery procedures needed after losing a significant amount of weight depend on the patient and may include an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to remove excessive skin and tissue, breast surgery for females or males to eliminate sagging, facial rejuvenation, arm lift to remove sagging skin, and/or other procedures.
