Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

UT Southwestern Medical Center Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team is committed to helping patients achieve the highest possible level of physical, functional, and cognitive independence after an injury or illness. With both inpatient and outpatient programs, we offer comprehensive individualized rehabilitative care based on the needs of each of our patients.

We are a major referral center for patients requiring rehabilitative care. Our physicians (who are all board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation), researchers, and therapists are among the most respected in the nation. We provide the medical and scientific leadership that enables us to make an important difference in the lives of our patients. This includes treatment strategies to support recovery from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, back and neck disorders, burns, cancer, spinal cord injuries, wound care, and many types of illnesses and injuries.

Our expertise includes providing patients with attentive and personalized care that is based on the most advanced therapies available in rehabilitative care.

Our commitment to being a center of excellence for rehabilitation services is exemplified by the comprehensive specialties offered at UT Southwestern. As a result, UT Southwestern is a major referral center for patients with the most complex cases requiring rehabilitation.

Patients and family members are vital members who are integrated early into the rehabilitation process, assisting with goal setting and other essential management strategies. We take complex medical information and describe it to patients in easy-to-understand terms. In addition, we also offer patients access to educational materials that will help them learn more about surgical procedures and why they are candidates for the treatment prescribed.
