The Pain Management Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center offers expert, compassionate care for patients experiencing chronic headaches such as cluster headaches, migraines, tension headaches, and secondary headaches, in which headaches are the symptom of an underlying disorder such as sinus or hormonal conditions.
UT Southwestern is one of the few pain management centers in Texas with onsite pain specialists, behavioral medicine specialists, and physical therapists. Our program uses therapies derived from the latest scientific advances in pain management and our specialists use the least invasive procedures available to diagnose, locate, and treat your headaches.
Depending on your specific condition, our specialists may prescribe medications that halt the headache process after it has started, or preventive medications that reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches. Medications are prescribed in a variety of forms, including injections, nasal sprays, or oral tablets.
In addition to medications, UT Southwestern’s specialists may also prescribe:
- Biofeedback therapy
- Headache education
- Physical therapy
- Relaxation techniques
- Stress management
Our Pain Management Program provides help and hope to individuals whose daily lives are controlled by headaches. At UT Southwestern, our specialists understand the physical debilitation and emotional stress caused by chronic headaches.
