When you visit a neuro-ophthalmologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, you’ll undergo a series of tests to thoroughly evaluate and diagnose your condition. Our specialists will use sophisticated, advanced technologies to accurately diagnose your condition.
The tests you’ll undergo might include:
- Color test
- Evaluation of eye movements and ocular alignment
- Imaging studies such as computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or ultrasound
- Visual acuity
- Visual field testing
You also might undergo a complete neurological evaluation. Your neuro-ophthalmologist will want to know your complete medical history and a list of any medications you’re taking. If your referring doctor has already performed imaging studies, make sure the films are made available to your UTSW neuro-ophthalmologist before your appointment.
