Dr. Mark Link is a cardiovascular disease specialist and an expert on commotio cortis, a relatively rare and mysterious disorder that kills 10 to 20 people a year who happen to suffer a sudden blow to the chest wall — usually from a sports ball — at precisely the wrong time during the heart’s rhythmic beat. He joined UT Southwestern in 2016 and was formerly an Associate Professor at Tufts Medical Center, where he served as head of the Center for the Evaluation of Heart Disease in Athletes.
