Darren K. McGuire, M.D., M.H.Sc., is a Professor of Internal Medicine, the Director of the Cardiology Clinical Trials unit, and the Director of Parkland Hospital & Health System's Outpatient Cardiology clinics. In 2013, he won the UT System Board of Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award.
Dr. McGuire specializes in the long-term prevention of and risk-modification for cardiovascular disease, especially in patients with diabetes. He also is studying the effects of therapeutic intervention strategies among patients with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Additionally, he serves as the Senior Editor of Diabetes and Vascular Disease Research and Associate Editor of the American Heart Journal.
