UT Southwestern’s Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program has received “Comprehensive” accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
“Patients who are going to have bariatric surgery—and their insurance carriers - want their care at an MBSAQIP Comprehensive Center, which represents the highest level of multidisciplinary care. That’s what UT Southwestern offers,” says Michael J. Lee, M.D., Director of the Program.
Dr. Lee and his team have the expertise and resources to provide complete bariatric surgical care, including care for the most challenging and complex cases. They not only offer all types of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, including adjustable gastric banding, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional surgery, but they follow up those procedures with an individualized focus on patients.
“We emphasize personalized, quality care, before, during, and after surgery,” Dr. Lee says, “because with weight loss, it’s the long-term success that matters—not the short-term gain.”
