We’re happy to accept referrals if you have a patient in need of evaluation or treatment.”Brian Bethea, M.D.
Patients with valvular heart disease now have the option of receiving comprehensive care in just a single visit. The Valve Clinic at UT Southwestern’s Clinical Heart Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to valve disease where all treatment options can be discussed and tailored to the individual.
“At the Clinic, we provide a comprehensive review of the patient’s condition by both a cardiologist and a cardiac surgeon, eliminating the need for two separate appointments,” says Sarah Gualano, M.D., Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine–Cardiology.
A team comprised of a cardiologist, cardiac surgeon, and a nurse coordinator evaluate patients, who are guided through their individualized care plan based on age, functional status, disease severity, heart rhythm, comorbidities, and ability to tolerate anticoagulation.
Notes Brian Bethea, M.D., Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, “The approach to patients with valve disease is rapidly changing. We’re proud to offer a clinic where patients receive efficient, clear, and individualized care plans in a single visit.”
