UT Southwestern Medical Center has flexible visiting hours to accommodate the needs of our hospital patients and their guests. Although visiting hours are open, our patients – your loved ones – should receive plenty of rest so their bodies can heal.
Friends and family members may stay overnight in patient rooms (with the exception of the Intensive Care Unit) as follows:
- At Clements University Hospital, cots are available. Bed linens may also be requested.
- At Zale Lipshy University Hospital, the bench “window seat” can accommodate one person.
In the Intensive Care Units, we ask that visitors refrain from visiting between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Additionally, in the mother/baby unit, mothers and their infants enjoy quiet time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. We ask that all guests be considerate and observe quiet time as well.
A Note About Children
Out of concern for our patients, children under the age of 12 are not allowed on units with immune-compromised patients without special permission from the nurse manager or nursing supervisor. For questions, please check with your nurse or with the Guest and Patient Services desk.
We have specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor of each hospital lobby.
Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the Intensive Care and Day Surgery units. Please abide by policies posted in those waiting areas.
