Meet Our Hospitalists

Dr. Jonathan C. Weissler, Professor of Internal Medicine, directly supervises the Hospital Medicine program at UT Southwestern University Hospitals. Dr. Weissler received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern Affiliated Hospitals/Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. After the completion of a fellowship in pulmonary diseases at UT Southwestern, Dr. Weissler joined the faculty in 1985. A nationally respected expert in pulmonary and critical care medicine, he has served since 2006 as Chief of Medicine for UT Southwestern University Hospitals and Vice Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Roohi Cheema is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned her medical degree and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern. She has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2015.

Dr. Ogechi Dike is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned her medical degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. Following completion of a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Dr. Dike came to UT Southwestern in 2015.

Dr. Anthony Edwards is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned his medical degree at the University of Colorado and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern. He has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2015.

Dr. Edmond Fomunung is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and came to UT Southwestern as a hospitalist in 2015.

Dr. Divya Gehi is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who received her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. She trained in internal medicine at UT Southwestern and started her career as a hospitalist in 2016.

Dr. Snigdha Jain is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Jain received her medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, where she was valedictorian of her class. Following an internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa, Dr. Jain relocated to UT Southwestern as a hospitalist in 2016.

Dr. Rasika Karnik is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern. She has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2015.

Dr. Haseeb Kazi is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kazi earned his medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Penn. Prior to coming to UT Southwestern in 2015, he was a hospitalist at Emory University in Atlanta.

Dr. Jeffrey Levea is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Prior to relocating to UT Southwestern in 2015, Dr. Levea was a hospitalist at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Matthew Lo is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Lo earned his medical degree and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern. He has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2007.

Dr. Saurin Patel is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned his medical degree and completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern. Dr. Patel has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2013 and has been the Associate Medical Director of the Division of Hospital Medicine since 2015.

Dr. John Ruffino is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Ruffino earned his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York and completed a residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2015.

Dr. Abey Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned his medical degree at Russian State Medical University in Moscow. He completed a residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Queens, where he was Chief Resident, and then received fellowship training in nephrology and hypertension there. Dr. Thomas joined the faculty at UT Southwestern in 2012, where he has been Medical Director of the Division of Hospital Medicine at UT Southwestern University Hospitals since 2013. Dr. Thomas has been selected to serve as a mentor for medical students in UT Southwestern's Seldin College.

Dr. Emilia Thomas is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine who earned her medical degree at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. She completed internal medicine training at Virginia Commonwealth University/Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health in Abington, Penn. Dr. Thomas has also received an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2005 and has been selected to serve as a mentor for medical students in UT Southwestern's Seldin College.

Dr. Amitha Thudi is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine who earned her medical degree at Siddhartha Medical College in Karnataka, India. Dr. Thudi completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern in 2006 and has been practicing as a hospitalist here since then.

Dr. Min Yi is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr. Yi earned his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center of Columbia University. Dr. Yi has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2009.

Dr. Ali Zamanian is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine. He earned his medical degree at Mashad University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Dr. Zamanian completed a residency in general surgery at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., and an internal medicine residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. Dr. Zamanian has been practicing as a hospitalist at UT Southwestern since 2008.
