Preeminent landscape architectural firm Peter Walker and Partners designed the landscaping that creates a visually appealing and emotionally comforting outdoor environment.
In addition to the landscaping planned for the front of the hospital, there is a special patient garden in the back for patients who can go outside but do not wish to be in more public areas. This space has been designed to accommodate patients in wheelchairs and with other special needs, adding to the healing environment of the new hospital.
Peter Walker is known for his distinctive ability to craft landscapes that blend art, culture, and nature. The firm has created such award-winning spaces as the garden at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas; the World Trade Center Memorial in New York; the grounds of the United States Embassy in Beijing; the Library Walk at the University of California, San Diego; and the Harima Science Garden City in Japan.
The landscaping at Clements University Hospital was made possible by generous private philanthropic support. The landscaping is designed to promote the recovery of patients and the well-being of health care providers by serving as a peaceful respite for all to enjoy.
