Research

The UT Southwestern Spine Center comprises not only a state-of-the-art treatment center, but also a robust research program aimed at advancing care delivery and patient outcomes for conditions of the back, neck, and spine.

Scientific Programs

Physician-scientists from the Spine Center and investigators in a number of UT&nbspSouthwestern scientific programs conduct research related to spinal conditions. These programs include:

  • Department of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics (Research)
  • Neuroscience Clinical Research Center
  • Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (Research)

Clinical Trials and Related Research Efforts

Clinical trials help us improve understanding of spine conditions and develop better treatment methods. As an academic medical center, UT Southwestern actively participates in clinical trials that may provide patients with access to treatments not available elsewhere.

In addition, the Spine Center conducts research to improve our own processes. We are developing an internal outcomes registry, which will help clinicians assess patient outcomes locally and nationally.
