UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Plastic Surgery is recognized for our contributions to the advancement of surgical techniques and technology, research, and education of the next generation of plastic surgeons and practicing physicians. As part of an academic medical institution, our experts are uniquely committed to discovering safe, effective innovations to improve results for patients, based on evidence-based care.
Among the first in the United States to establish a plastic surgery department, we have grown into one of the largest clinical practices in the country. Our faculty have written books on advances in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, as well as wound care; have chaired hundreds of national and international symposia; and delivered thousands of scientific papers.
Our board-certified surgeons hold leadership positions in the world’s most well-respected plastic surgery organizations. This includes serving in leadership positions, including president, of a number of organizations – such as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), which is the leading organization of board-certified plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic plastic surgery; American Society of Plastic Surgery; Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons; Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons; the Rhinoplasty Society, which oversees aesthetic plastic surgery training for physicians in the United States; and many others.
UT Southwestern plastic surgeons are featured regularly in the media – including Allure, CNN, the View, the Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, the New York Times, the Dallas Morning News, KXAS-TV, and many other media outlets. Members of the Plastic Surgery faculty are consistently named in best doctor listings, such as U.S. News & World Report, America's Top Plastic Surgeons, D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas, Texas Monthly Super Docs, and America’s Top Plastic Surgeons.
Our faculty develops individual treatment plans for each patient, whether cosmetic or reconstructive.
We are personally committed to helping patients make informed decisions. Our physicians are available to provide clear explanations and answer any question someone may have – before and long after a procedure.
UT Southwestern Plastic Surgery consistently scores in the highest percentiles regarding patient satisfaction. One measure is our Press Ganey scores, which ranks consumer satisfaction regarding health care services. We consistently rank in the 90th percentile and above.
Our team is bridging scientific discoveries with surgical techniques and technology such as post-surgical healing, wound care, and patient safety. Our discoveries impact not only perspectives on plastic surgery, but also on other surgical and medical specialties.
One of our missions is teaching the next generation of plastic surgeons. UT Southwestern’s Plastic Surgery residencies are among the most sought after.
