Post-Transplant Rehabilitation

UT Southwestern Medical Center’s rehabilitation program for patients who have received a heart, lung, kidney, or bone marrow transplant is widely regarded as among the best in the nation.

Over a recent 30-month period, the Heart and Lung Transplant Program was rated the best in the nation for achieving the highest survival rate (100 percent) for one-year post-transplantation recipients. Since our Heart Transplant Program program began in 1988 and our Lung Transplant Program began in 1990, UT Southwestern has consistently been ranked among the top 10 programs in the U.S., and our five-year survival rates significantly exceed the national average.

UT Southwestern rehabilitation specialists work with a team of physicians, nursing coordinators, therapists, dietitians, social workers, and counselors to provide expert, comprehensive care for post-transplantation patients. Our specialists excel in providing attentive, compassionate care for each of our patients in an environment that offers the most advanced medical resources available.

Our caring specialists have the experience and knowledge to help our patients attain their highest levels of function after a transplant procedure. A dedication to provide advanced medical and rehabilitation services, combined with compassionate care, makes an important difference in our patients’ rehabilitation program and changes their outlook on the future.
