In 2010 the Stroke Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center achieved a major milestone when The Joint Commission certified St. Paul University Hospital as a Primary Stroke Center. The certification is a distinction for hospitals fostering specialized stroke care for patients.
The American Heart Association /American Stroke Association issued a Gold Plus Award to Parkland Memorial Hospital's stroke unit for the high level of care given to stroke patients the same year.
Our physicians work with patients to develop a comprehensive approach to managing stroke or other cerebrovascular conditions. Because recurrent strokes can happen, prevention is a significant aspect of the stroke recovery process. Our physicians are experts in stroke therapy and stroke rehabilitation.
The expertise of UT Southwestern Medical Center’s neurosurgeons attracts patients from around the world. UT Southwestern pioneered the use of advanced aneurysm treatments that have become standards in treating patients who have experienced a stroke.
Our world-renowned team of neurosurgeons use advanced surgical and imaging techniques against once-untreatable cerebral diseases. Detecting these conditions earlier means we can stop – and sometimes reverse – their debilitating effects.
