Ophthalmologists at UT Southwestern use the latest treatment techniques. For instance, to treat macular degeneration, our specialists use photodynamic therapy, anti-VEGF therapy, and sometimes a precision cutting device with an oscillating microscope (Accurus vitrector) for surgery. They may also use gas bubbles or silicone oil during a vitrectomy, a surgical procedure used to treat retina and vitreous disorders.
