UT Southwestern Medical Center is widely recognized as a leading clinical and research center for the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of conditions related to the endocrine system.
Nationally Ranked in Diabetes and Endocrinology
UT Southwestern is nationally ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list.
A complex collection of hormone-producing glands, the endocrine system controls basic body functions such as metabolism, growth, and sexual development. The system consists of the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, pancreas, adrenal cortex, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, and gonads.
The amount of hormones produced by each gland is carefully balanced. Too much or too little of a certain hormone can have effects throughout the body and cause various endocrine disorders. Many of the hormones produced by the endocrine glands interact with each other to maintain balance.
Our endocrinology service offers patients advanced treatments for diabetes, lipid metabolism conditions such as cholesterol and triglycerides, neuroendocrine (thyroid) disorders, and adrenal disorders such as Cushing’s syndrome.
UT Southwestern has one of the largest academic physician practices in the nation and is a major referral center for patients with the most complex neuroendocrine conditions. Our clinicians work in unison with our researchers to provide patients with the most up-to-date therapeutic interventions for endocrinology disorders.
