Although complications from bariatric surgery are uncommon, UT Southwestern Medical Center – as a regional referral center – is equipped to help patients who have failed to lose weight or are suffering from complications.
Revisional Bariatric Surgery Options
To an extent, the Lap-Band procedure can be reversed or even revised to a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy or a laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass can be reversed laparoscopically.
A failed sleeve gastrectomy can be converted to a laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
Revision surgery is very complex and requires individual counseling and a tailored approach. Our bariatric surgeons are happy to investigate the causes requiring revision and to explore different options individually with every patient.
