Thank you for your interest in volunteering at UT Southwestern’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. Volunteers help continue UT Southwestern’s tradition of providing caring service and assistance to our patients, guests, and staff. We offer challenging and rewarding opportunities that will let you help others and help you grow as an individual, too. Whatever your interest, we can find an area where you’ll make a difference.
Duties and Hours
Our volunteer hours at the Cancer Center are weekdays, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. We require our volunteers to commit to one 3-4 hour shift per week for a minimum of six months or 100 hours.
To volunteer, you must be at least 18 years of age, have identification including a Social Security number, complete and return the attached volunteer application and forms, and pass both the background and reference checks. The Simmons Volunteer Program Coordinator will then contact you to schedule an interview to discuss volunteer placement opportunities that best match your interests. At that time you will also be notified of upcoming volunteer orientation dates. Orientations are typically held twice a month on weekdays from 9 a.m.–noon.
