Supportive Services

Living with leukemia can be challenging. At UT Southwestern’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, we want to make sure we address your unique needs at every point in your cancer journey.

To do this, we have a specially trained support services staff available to meet with you and your family during and after care, as well as a range of therapies and activities to help you through treatment for leukemia and beyond.

Our support services include:

Cancer psychology

Our licensed clinical psychologists are trained to help cancer patients relieve the stress, sadness, and nervousness that can be associated with cancer and its treatments.

EMBRACE Survivorship

Our series of 10 seminars addresses important themes that can arise during the cancer journey, including family relationships, exercise, and fear of recurrence.

Integrative therapies

Therapies such as art therapy and expressive writing are designed to improve well-being and quality of life during and after cancer treatment.

Oncology nutrition

Nutrition is an important part of cancer treatment. Our dietitians help patients make informed food choices and ensure nutritional needs are being met during and after treatment.

Oncology rehabilitation

Cancer rehabilitation specialists help you maintain functional independence or return you to independence.

Oncology social work

Social workers trained to work with cancer patients are available to assist with any of the challenges you may face during or after treatment.

Spiritual support

Our chaplains provide interfaith support for you, your caregivers, and your family.

Support groups and classes

Meeting with others who have gone through or are going through similar cancer journeys can be supportive and therapeutic. Cancer support groups focus on compassion and access to resources.

Transitional care coordination

Our coordinators help as you transition between care settings, such as from a hospital to home.
