Phase I Cancer Clinical Trials
Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Phase I Clinical Trials Team offers new, targeted therapies for cancer patients. We match the trial with the patient to optimize the opportunity for benefit. We have selected a refined group of leading-edge studies. Phase I clinical trials enroll a few dozen patients per trial, test the best dose and schedule, and look for side effects, drug levels in blood and tissue, and patient response.
Patients must have cancer that has not responded to standard therapy or for which no curative therapy is known. The patient must be able to travel to Dallas, Texas, on a regular basis and be out of bed at least 50 percent of the day. There may be other criteria for participation in particular studies.
Why Choose UTSW?
Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in North Texas and sees approximately 5,000 new patients each year. In addition to experimental therapy studies, we offer patients multidisciplinary care provided by subspecialists who are focused on a particular type of cancer.
